Overview
Radiology for the General Practitioner is a structured three-part educational progression. Each session builds on the previous, providing a practical pathway from diagnosis → implementation → pathology recognition. The series is designed to strengthen clinical judgment, improve efficiency, and increase confidence in everyday use of dental imaging and CBCT.
Part 1: Diagnosis - July 8, 2026
This session focuses on radiographic diagnosis and clinical interpretation. Participants will learn how to move beyond simply acquiring images and begin using radiology as a powerful diagnostic tool in everyday practice. Emphasis is placed on improving confidence in evaluating anatomy, pathology, and treatment considerations.
Key Focus Areas:
- Radiographic anatomy for general practice
- 2D imaging vs. CBCT interpretation
- Recognizing normal vs. abnormal findings
- Imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Documentation and communication of findings
- Common areas of CBCT underutilization
- Risk assessment and clinical decision-making
Part 2: Implementation - August 12, 2026
This session focuses on integrating imaging into daily clinical workflow. It addresses the gap between understanding CBCT and consistently applying it in practice, helping clinicians build efficient, predictable systems for imaging use.
Key Focus Areas:
- When and why to prescribe CBCT
- Imaging protocols for common procedures
- Integration into treatment planning and case presentation
- CBCT for implant planning and surgical evaluation
- Endodontic and interdisciplinary applications
- Team training, delegation, and workflow efficiency
- Documentation systems and clinical consistency
- Collaboration with radiologists and referral partners
Part 3: Pathology - September 9, 2026
This session focuses on pathology recognition and clinical responsibility. General dentists are often the first to identify abnormal findings—this course strengthens pattern recognition and decision-making around monitoring, referral, and further evaluation.
Key Focus Areas:
- Identifying suspicious radiographic findings
- Common odontogenic and non-odontogenic pathology
- Incidental findings on CBCT
- Red flags in routine imaging
- When to refer for radiologic interpretation
- Documentation and patient communication
- Medical-legal considerations
- Building a consistent, safe review protocol
